Creativity and Community Shine at Planet Acorn Ribbon Cutting

On Friday, May 8th, the Dahlonega community gathered to celebrate the official Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting. It proved to certainly be a joyful celebration of creativity, collaboration, and community spirit in Dahlonega.

Planet Acorn is the imaginative creative world of artist, storyteller, performer, and entertainer Bobby Youngblood. Blending original stories, interactive games, whimsical characters, live experiences, and hands-on creativity, Planet Acorn invites audiences of all ages into a joyful universe where imagination takes center stage. Through productions, performances, themed experiences, and interactive activities, Planet Acorn celebrates playful storytelling, creativity, and community connection while encouraging curiosity and creative exploration.

As a mobile business without a traditional storefront, Bobby transformed the meeting space at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Dahlonega into a fully immersive “Planet Acorn” experience. Guests were welcomed into a whimsical world filled with tea party displays, costume wardrobes, interactive games, storytelling and service video installations, and imaginative touches around every corner. One particularly memorable feature included a live-action bride promoting Bobby Youngblood’s wedding officiating services, adding another layer of theatrical fun to the afternoon.

Throughout the celebration, a keyboardist performed classical music while guests enjoyed finger foods, cake, and the signature mocktail of the event: “The Acorn Fizz.” Bobby even filmed a mini-episode of “Bobby’s Blended Beverage Bonanza” during the festivities, bringing even more energy and personality to the occasion.

The event drew an overwhelming show of support from local businesses, artists, organizations, and community leaders, including the Dahlonega Arts Alliance and Atlanta Tiny Doors artist Karen Anderson. The gathering reflected the heart behind Planet Acorn — a growing creative venture centered on storytelling, performances, events, and imaginative experiences designed to inspire audiences of all ages.

One of the afternoon’s most meaningful moments came during the official ribbon cutting itself. Bobby invited both an older friend and a younger friend to join him in cutting the ribbon, symbolizing generations coming together through creativity, joy, and shared experiences.

“Planet Acorn is just getting started,” Bobby shared during the event, expressing excitement about future collaborations with fellow artists, businesses, and organizations. His vision is to continue helping Dahlonega shine as a magical destination for families, children, students, and visitors alike. Congratulations Bobby!
