Workin’ for the Weekend: A Labor Day Bingo Bash
What do you get when you bring together the Dahlonega Arts Alliance, Georgia Mountains Unitarian Universalist Church, a room full of bingo enthusiasts, and a whole lot of artistic energy? One unforgettable Labor Day celebration!
The Dahlonega Arts Alliance and Georgia Mountains Unitarian Universalist Church teamed up for “Workin’ for the Weekend” Labor Day Bingo, a joint fundraiser that celebrated the long weekend with music, dancing, costumes, and, of course, plenty of bingo!
The evening kicked off with a musical medley performed by DAA Chair Meagan Garris and Vice Chair Bobby Youngblood, who took the audience through a spirited soundtrack of the working life. The opening number featured a little something for everyone, including “9 to 5,” “Takin’ Care of Business,” “Supermodel,” and “Workin’ for the Weekend.” It was the perfect way to get everyone in the mood for a night of fun—and remind us all that sometimes you just have to work hard before you can really enjoy the weekend!
And the entertainment didn’t stop there. In between rounds, DAA-ers Tracey-Ann Jarrett and Martin Pena took the floor for a special Lindy Hop dance performance. Dancing their way through “Choo Choo Ch’Boogie,” “Sixteen Tons,” and “Out of Work,” the pair brought plenty of energy and vintage flair to the evening.
Guests were also encouraged to come dressed as their dream job, and they absolutely delivered! From creative career aspirations to imaginative costumes, participants embraced the theme and showed off their personalities. The room was filled with plenty of laughs, creativity, and some seriously impressive job titles.
Between bingo rounds, musical performances, dancing, and costume fun, there was no shortage of reasons to smile. Most importantly, the event brought two local organizations and the community together for a great cause.

We’re pretty sure everyone left ready to enjoy the rest of the weekend—and maybe already dreaming about the next DAA event.
