Member Moment: DAA-er Sarah Voiles of Swallow Tail Creations Competes in “The People’s Artist”

The Dahlonega Arts Alliance is excited to spotlight DAA member Sarah Voiles of Swallow Tail Creations, who is currently competing in Johnny Depp’s The People’s Artist competition!

Sarah has loved art since childhood, but her artistic journey truly took shape while studying at the University of North Georgia, where she earned her art degree. After several years working in the culinary world with Amicalola Falls State Park and Big Canoe, she made the bold decision in 2022 to fully pursue her passion for art.

Since then, Sarah has built Swallow Tail Creations into a growing creative business, showcasing her work at the Bowen Center for the Arts and participating in art markets throughout North Georgia. Her dream is to one day open a gallery and studio space that not only features her own work, but also uplifts fellow local artists.

Sarah specializes in block printing, a classic printmaking technique that she blends with bold, graphic-inspired designs to create a fresh and modern style. Through her work, she hopes to preserve and share appreciation for the art of block printing — a medium that many people are unfamiliar with today.

Winning The People’s Artist competition would be a major step toward achieving her goals. Prize support would help Sarah invest toward opening her own studio/gallery space and expand her reach beyond North Georgia through additional art shows and opportunities.

The competition, presented by Johnny Depp, highlights emerging artists and gives the public the opportunity to vote for their favorite creators. Supporters can cast votes online to help artists advance through the competition rounds.
