Lights, Laughter, and Community: DAA Joins the Fun at Game Show Dahlonega
The Dahlonega Arts Alliance was thrilled to be part of the pilot episode of Planet Acorn's Game Show Dahlonega, a brand-new community game show created and hosted by Member at Large, Bobby Youngblood, at the historic Holly Theatre.
Representing DAA on stage were Meagan Garris, Chelsey Lawrence, and Haley McDaniel, who faced off against the Holly Theatre team in an evening full of audience surveys, trivia, physical challenges, and plenty of laughs. While the competition was friendly, the energy was contagious, making for an unforgettable night that had both contestants and audience members cheering along.
What made the evening even more special was the incredible support from our DAA community behind the scenes. Bryan Garris captured the excitement through his photography, Cynthia Gilbert lent her creative talents to the set design, Carl and Pattie Pirone of Pirone Graphics provided the trailer used to transport the game board, and Janet Ericson of Art by Rabbit Raven Creations generously donated beautiful jewelry for the prize pool. Their contributions helped make the pilot a true community effort.
Beyond the fun and friendly competition, the event was a wonderful opportunity to introduce new people to the Dahlonega Arts Alliance and to shine a spotlight on other community resources, including the Lumpkin County Library's Summer Reading Kits. It's a perfect example of how local organizations can come together to celebrate creativity, collaboration, and community spirit.
The overwhelming response from attendees means Game Show Dahlonega will return as a recurring event this fall. The first official show of the season is scheduled for September 2 at the Holly Theatre, and we can't wait to see this exciting new tradition continue to grow.
