Celebrating Success: Evie Somogyi Kitchens Earns Producer's Choice at the Painted Fern Festival of Art

The Dahlonega Arts Alliance is thrilled to congratulate member Evie Somogyi Kitchens of Simply Affinity on receiving the Producer's Choice Award at this year's Painted Fern Festival of Art, presented by the North Georgia Arts Guild.

Held annually at the Rabun County Civic Center, the Painted Fern Festival is one of North Georgia's premier indoor fine art festivals. Each year, two outstanding artists are recognized with the festival's highest honors: Best of Show (People's Choice), selected by visitor ballot, and Producer's Choice, chosen by the festival committee.

For Evie, this year's recognition was especially meaningful. A returning artist to the festival, she describes Painted Fern as one of her favorite events of the year—not only because it offers artists a welcome escape from the July heat, but because of the incredible sense of community it fosters. From the warm hospitality of the North Georgia Arts Guild to the opportunity to connect with fellow artists and art lovers, the festival continues to be a source of inspiration.

"I could not stop crying when the committee presented me with the award," Evie shared. "It was so meaningful, and I feel so much gratitude for being chosen."

Along with the honor, Evie received a beautiful Japanese Painted Fern, a handmade wreath, and a cash prize. More importantly, the recognition reaffirmed her passion for creating nature-inspired wearable art.

Like many artists, Evie understands that creativity comes with seasons of inspiration and moments of uncertainty. She credits events like Painted Fern with reigniting that creative spark. Conversations with visitors, feedback from customers, and time spent alongside fellow artists left her energized with new ideas and excited to begin future projects.

"My hope is to bring joy through my nature-inspired wearable art," she says, "and I aspire to inspire others to create and follow their passions."
