DAA-er Travis Burdick’s Short Films Hit the Festival Circuit
DAA-er Travis Burdick is back on the film festival circuit with not one, but two films screening this month!
Dead Man Blues will screen October 22 as part of the Atlanta Film Society’s LOCALS ONLY showcase, featuring short films filmed in Georgia and directed by Georgia-based filmmakers. The music video was filmed, directed and edited by Travis on Tri-X Kodak black-and-white 16mm film, set to a song written and recorded by his former bandmate, Seth Moody. Fellow DAA-ers Hughes Kitchens, Evie Somogyi-Kitchens and Melody Granger helped with the production, with Hughes starring in the video.
On October 26, The Summoning will screen at the Simply Weird Film Festival, hosted by River Bear Films. Shot on 16mm film and written, created and directed by Travis, the short follows Gary, who summons a guest—and now must prepare. Hughes, Evie and Melody once again appear in starring and crew roles.
These new projects build on Travis’s growing body of work as a filmmaker. Last year, his short film The Last Ghoul was selected for the Atlanta Film Society’s 100 Feet of Film Project. Shot on a single 100-foot roll of 16mm film, the project also brought together Hughes, Evie and Melody and showcased Travis’s distinctive approach to filmmaking. Read our article about it here.
We love seeing DAA artists collaborate, experiment and bring their work to new audiences. Congratulations, Travis, and best of luck at both festivals!
